I realized early on that having good quality equipment that is geared for the job it needs to do greatly enhances the enjoyment of “playing” in the kitchen. To me, good tools and equipment are an investment. They pay for themselves over time and use.
I have recently discovered that many of the kitchen tools and equipment I have are now considered vintage. The loose definition of “vintage” seems to be anything that is at least 20 years old but not over 100 years old. Anything over 100 years old is considered antique. I have had a lot of my tools and equipment for decades, definitely more than 20 years. Some of my kitchen tools that belong in the vintage category include my KitchenAid mixer and my crockpot. Other things include my Guardian Service, Wear-ever, Magnalite and all my Tupperware, Pyrex and Corning ware In recent years I have added things like the electric juicer, an electric jar opener and a mini food processor

In the 1950’s I used this square Tupperware-keeper for turtles |

In 2023 I still have the Tupperware-keeper |
Since about 2021 Bryan has been part of a program related to product evaluation. Through this program we have gotten a variety of kitchen tools. This has provided a great opportunity to experiment with things I never would have gotten any other way. These tools include a sous vide immersion cooker, a microwave pasta cooker, a battery operated frother, and a rice cooker. I have also gotten a variety of baking pans and small kitchen tools. It has been a lot of fun working with these tools and trying new ways of cooking things.
It seems most of my kitchen is on wheels.

This my pots and pans cart. It rolls under the counter near the sink. It replaces an unusable cupboard |
My baking cart holds all the essentials for baking. When using, I roll it to the middle of the kitchen for easy access. It is stored in a small alcove in the laundry area. |
Tool cart – this holds my Champion juicer, rice cooker, waffle iron, blenders, vacuum sealer, pasta cooker and other tools. It stores in the room across from the kitchen. |
Prep cart. I roll this cart in front of the frig so I can get everything I need out for meals. It is also used to carry meals, plates, etc to the table for meals. I store all my pot holders in the basket on the bottom. This cart fits nicely in a corner of the kitchen out of the way. |
