Virginia H. Leipper - Life Summary

Virginia H. Leipper passed away peacefully at her home on October 8, 2009. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dale F. Leipper. Virginia was a homemaker and mother who was active in in community and volunteer efforts all her adult life. In support of her husband, Virginia sponsored the formation of the Student Wives Club of the Department of Oceanography and Meteorology Texas A&M University, College Station, TX and also served as an officer in the Newcomers Club at the University. Virginia was involved in Girl Scouts for over 35 years including serving as a troop leader, district chairman, trainer, and council president. Other activities include; being a charter member of the Volunteers in Action, Monterey California, AAUW representative on the Manpower Planning Commission, and active participant and elected officer of the Monterey Bay California Unit, WBCCI. Virginia was also an avid quilter. She was a member of the Monterey Bay Quilters and the Truckee Meadows Quilters. Among the honors she has received were the Volunteers In Action Community Services Award, the Girl Scout Thanks Badge and Lifetime membership in Monterey Bay Girl Scout Council. Virginia is survived by her children; Diane, Bryan, and Anita Leipper, all of Reno, NV and Janet Smith of Eugene OR.
